Curaçao is a sunny island with a warm climate.
The average temperature during the day is 32 degrees Celsius.
During the day we wear shorts, a cotton T-shirt, flip flops and a cap. In the evening we wear nice jeans with a cotton or linnen shirt and slippers/sneakers, or a cotton/linnen dress with sandals.
You really don't need much unless you are attending a formal event.
Personal hygiene is very important in the tropics, especially the use of a good deodorant and perfume.
The electricity on Curaçao is 110 Volt/50HZ.
All our sockets are also 110 Volt.
Jan Thiel Beach is one of the well known beaches on Curaçao and is only 1 kilometer from us.
That's less than a 2-minute drive or a 20-minute walk.
Here you can enjoy sun, sea, sand with cocktails, delicious food, water sports, beach tennis, diving, sailing and even nightlife.
On Saturday evenings it is the place to be, because everyone comes here to enjoy the live music and dance barefoot in the sand under the palm trees and the stars.
Note: Jan Thiel Beach is a privately owned beach and you pay an entrance fee of Naf 6 or US$3 per person if you go swimming.
After 5pm entrance is free.

Do not leave your belongings unattended at the beach, as they may get stolen (by other tourists)—after all, no one has a sign on their forehead saying they can't be trusted.
Just outside the Jan Thiel beach you will find Van Der Tweel supermarket.
It's located in the white building from the Papagayo hotel.
They are open 7 days a week, from 7.30 am till 9 pm.
We do not have a restaurant on site.
There are several good restaurants in our area.
We recommend Brisa Do Mar (former Pop's Place), where you can enjoy a good breakfast, lunch or dinner with a beautiful view of Caracas Bay.

The Ribs Factory has been our favorite restaurant for years.
They have the best spare ribs on the island, but the chicken skewers, the tenderloin skewers, their fajitas and quesadillas are also super tasty.
They are open every day.
They are located at Oude Caracasbaaiweg 54.
You can also order and pick up.

A tugboat once sank close to the coast between the CaracasBay beach and the Directors Bay, and has remained underwater ever since.
Over time, corals have grown on the boat and it is now one of the most famous underwater jewels of Curaçao.
The boat is only 5 meters (17 ft) underwater, and is easy to spot while snorkeling.

Between 2007 and 2009, a surge of Venezuelan tourists visited Curaçao, overwhelming the available hotel accommodations. Seeing this demand, Haitham envisioned an alternative—a comfortable yet affordable place near the beach where his Venezuelan friends could stay.
This vision became Casa Amalia, named after the Venezuelan actress Amalia Pérez Díaz.
Later, a Dutch tour operator discovered Casa Amalia and saw its potential. They were eager to offer it to their clients. Today, Casa Amalia has become a beloved accommodation for many Dutch tourists.
